2021 Pinot Noir Heritage

2021 Pinot Noir Heritage

The 2021 Pinot Noir Heritage is a wine of distinction and legacy, crafted from our original 1984 estate planting of own-rooted Pommard clones. This exceptional 94-point Pinot Noir embodies the structure and ageworthiness that define Oregon’s finest wines. Aged for 18 months in French oak (25% new), it reveals extraordinary complexity and balance, hallmarks of meticulous craftsmanship.

Enticing aromas of rose petal, tobacco, and earth lead to a luxurious palate of dark berry fruits, black cherry, nutmeg, and coriander. A spicy, grippy finish hints at its cellaring potential, promising even greater refinement with time. The inclusion of 60% whole cluster fermentation enhances its layered texture and depth, while elevated acidity ensures versatility at the table or in the cellar.

Pair this Pinot Noir with roasted duck, herb-crusted lamb chops, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses for a truly elevated experience. Perfect for collectors and connoisseurs, the 2021 Pinot Noir Heritage is a testament to the artistry and enduring legacy of Kramer Vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Sourced from our original planting of Pinot Noir in 1984, the Pinots from this block tend to be among our most structured and ageworthy. Find aromas of rose petal, tobacco, and earth. The dark berry fruits on the palate, with a spicy, grippy finish that will round with time.
Ratings
Editor's Choice. The Heritage has a strawberry-streusel aroma spiced by nutmeg and cinnamon. It feels full in the mouth, with elevated acidity and flavors of black cherry, coriander, orange zest, and bone marrow on toast points. Its 60% whole cluster fermentation and 18 months in French oak, 25% new, are a winning combination. --Michael Alberty, WE
Vineyard Notes
Own-rooted Pommard clones planted in 1984 at the estate vineyard.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, and 60% destemmed, layering the whole clusters on the bottom of the fermentation vats. After a six-day cold soak, fermentation began. The vats were pumped over and punched down twice daily and pressed at dryness. The wine settled overnight, and was racked to 25% new French oak to age until it was racked and blended the following spring.
