Tasting Notes
The 2020 Cardiac Hill Pinot Noir opens with captivating aromas of black cherry, baked plums, and blackberry, layered with floral notes of rose petal and violet. Earthy hints of forest floor and tobacco complement the dark berry flavors, while refined tannins and subtle baking spices create a long, spice-laden finish.
Vineyard Notes
Planted in 1995, Cardiac Hill is the steepest block in our vineyard. This one-acre site, densely planted with Pommard and Dijon 115 clones, features challenging terrain and clay-rich soils that naturally limit yields. These conditions result in wines with remarkable intensity and complexity.
Winemaker Notes
The 2020 vintage offered ideal growing conditions, yielding fruit of exceptional intensity. Grapes from Cardiac Hill were hand-harvested, sorted, and gently fermented to preserve their delicate nature. Following fermentation, the wine aged 20 months in French oak barrels (25% new), enhancing its depth and elegance.
Food Pairing Notes
This structured Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with wild mushroom risotto, roast duck, or herb-crusted pork tenderloin. It also complements creamy cheeses like Brie or Gruyère and shines alongside seared filet mignon or classic lamb stew.
