2018 Pinot Noir Rebecca's Reserve

2018 Pinot Noir Rebecca's Reserve

The 2018 Pinot Noir Rebecca’s Reserve is a rare and exquisite wine that embodies the essence of Kramer Vineyards’ Rebecca’s block, planted in 1992. Located in Oregon’s renowned Yamhill-Carlton AVA, this small one-acre vineyard features Pommard and Dijon 115 clones planted in close spacing, creating vine stress that enhances fruit concentration and complexity. With only 50 cases produced, this is a wine crafted for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

On the nose, enticing aromas of cherry and raspberry are complemented by subtle hints of clove and earthy mushroom. The palate delivers vibrant layers of red fruit, spice, and savory undertones, supported by a medium body, silky tannins, and a long, elegant finish. A true expression of the 2018 vintage, this Pinot Noir showcases excellent color depth and complexity.

Crafted with meticulous care, the grapes were harvested by hand on October 13, 2018, and carefully sorted. The winemaking process combined 50% destemmed fruit with whole clusters for fermentation, resulting in added structure and aromatic layers. After a six-day cold soak to enhance flavor and color, the wine was fermented with daily pump-overs and punch-downs, followed by gentle pressing. It aged gracefully for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels and was bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its authenticity and character.

Pair the 2018 Pinot Noir Rebecca’s Reserve with roasted duck, herb-crusted pork tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, or grilled salmon. Its earthy, savory notes also make it a perfect companion for truffle-infused dishes or aged cheeses like Gruyère and Fontina. Serve slightly chilled at 55–60°F to fully appreciate its complexity and elegance.

Discover the artistry and dedication behind Kramer Vineyards’ most limited-production Pinot Noir. Secure your bottle of Rebecca’s Reserve today and experience the unique character of this extraordinary vineyard block.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2018 Pinot Noir Rebecca’s Reserve captivates with its layered complexity and refined character. Enticing aromas of cherry, raspberry, and clove are accented by earthy notes of mushroom and a delicate hint of forest floor. On the palate, flavors of dark red fruit, like cherry and raspberry, are beautifully balanced with savory notes of clove, anise, and earthy mushroom. Medium-bodied with smooth, silky tannins and bright acidity, this wine delivers an elegant structure that leads to a long, lingering finish with subtle spice and mineral undertones.
Vineyard Notes
The Rebecca's block was planted in 1992 and consists of Pommard and Dijon 115 clones. The vine spacing for this block is unique; the plants are four feet apart, four feet in between rows, with a larger tractor break every fourth row. This strategy increases vine density and applies stress while allowing for some tractor access to the block.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested by hand and 50% destemmed into a bin for a 6-day cold soak. When fermentation began, the must was pumped over and punched down twice daily. After fermentation was complete, the must was pressed, and the wine settled overnight. The wine was racked to neutral French oak barrels and aged for 18 months until bottling. This wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
