Kramer Vineyards

2018 Pinot Noir Estate

2018 Pinot Noir Estate

The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate from Kramer Vineyards is a testament to the exceptional terroir of Oregon’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA. This limited-production wine, with only 375 cases produced, captures the unique characteristics of our sustainably farmed estate vineyard, offering depth, complexity, and elegance in every sip.

Aromas of cherries, cran-raspberry, and orange zest are accented by hints of black pepper, vanilla, and anise. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with flavors of tart cherries, pomegranate, and a touch of gentle spice. A smooth texture and bright acidity lead to a long, succulent finish that lingers beautifully.

This wine is sourced from a 2.5-acre parcel planted between 1985 and 1988, featuring own-rooted Pommard, Wädenswil, and Gamay Beaujolais Upright Pinot Noir clones. At an elevation of 725 feet, the vines thrive in Peavine soils, producing fruit with remarkable character and complexity.

The grapes were harvested by hand and meticulously sorted in the vineyard and on the crush pad. Two-thirds of the clusters were layered into 1-ton fermenters, with the remaining fruit destemmed on top. Following a five-day cold soak, fermentation began, with daily pump-overs and punch-downs to extract rich color and flavor. The wine was then aged for 10 months in 20% new French oak barrels, undergoing full malolactic fermentation for added depth and structure.

Pair the 2018 Pinot Noir Estate with roasted duck, rack of lamb, mushroom risotto, or grilled salmon. Its vibrant acidity and smooth tannins also make it an excellent match for soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert. Serve slightly chilled at 55–60°F to fully enjoy its elegant profile.

Discover the artistry of Kramer Vineyards in every bottle of this exceptional Pinot Noir. Secure yours today and experience the essence of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Powerful aromas and intense flavors of cherries, cran/raspberry, tart cherries, hints of anise, vanilla, and notes of black pepper punctate throughout.
Ratings
92 points! Some quite toasty and brazenly spicy oak sits across meaty notes on the nose here with gentle, orange-zest nuances. There’s a very smooth and succulent feel to the palate with a fresh, lithe and crunchy, pomegranate and cherry finish. Drink now. JamesSuckling.com.

Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted in the field, and again on the crush pad. Two-thirds of the clusters were layered into 1-ton fermenters, destemming the remaining fruit on top. The bins were pumped over under the cap once daily during the five-day cold soak. Once fermentation began, the bins were pumped over and punched down twice daily until dry, and pressed. The wine settled overnight and was racked to 20% new French oak barrels to age for 10 months, undergoing full malolactic fermentation.
