Tasting Notes
On the nose, this wine offers a delightful mix of ripe red cherry, raspberry, and a hint of baking spice. On the palate, it reveals flavors of black cherry and plum, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and a touch of earthiness. The wine has a medium body with velvety tannins and a well-balanced acidity, leading to a long, smooth finish. As the wine opens, it becomes more complex, showcasing layers of dried fruit and a touch of tobacco. This Pinot Noir is perfect for pairing with rich, savory dishes like roasted duck, beef bourguignon, or mushroom risotto. Or, enjoy a glass on its own and savor the unique flavor profile found only in Rebecca's Reserve Pinot Noir from Kramer Vineyards.
Vineyard Notes
Rebecca's Block is a special section of our vineyard with a unique planting strategy. In the late 1980s, we switched from the standard 5' x 10' vine spacing to a denser 4' x 4' spacing with a ten-foot break for the tractor between rows, inspired by the vineyards of Burgundy. This higher vine density results in smaller clusters and more intense flavors, which is reflected in the exceptional quality of our Rebecca's Reserve Pinot Noir. The sustainably farmed grapes are carefully tended to by our vineyard team, ensuring that only the best fruit is selected for this particular wine.
Production Notes
Only 50 cases were produced, so don't miss the chance to experience the unique terroir of our vineyard in every sip of this exceptional wine.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted, and fermented with 50% whole clusters to enhance the wine's complexity and structure. The wine was then fermented in small lots using a mix of indigenous and commercial yeast, allowing for a nuanced fermentation profile. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels, imparting subtle oak flavors and a silky texture to the wine. The wine was sterile filtered at bottling to help ensure a long life in the cellar. Only two barrels of this wine, or 50 cases, were produced. With its elegant structure and complex layers of aroma and flavor, this Pinot Noir is a testament to the Kramer family's dedication to sustainable farming practices and innovative winemaking techniques.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled meats, wild mushrooms, and aged cheeses. Its elegant profile also makes it an excellent choice for special occasions or intimate dinners.
