2019 Grüner Veltliner
The 2019 Grüner Veltliner from Kramer Vineyards Estate is a bright and refreshing white wine with aromas of cucumber, honeydew, peach, and green apple. The wine is light and dry on the palate, with citrusy, bright acidity and flavors of lemon, lime, and apple. Hints of white pepper and river rock in the long finish add complexity to this wine. The fruit for this wine was hand-harvested and sorted before undergoing whole-cluster pressing and cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged on the fine lees until the following spring and then lightly fined with bentonite before sterile filtering at bottling. With only 100 cases produced, this Grüner Veltliner is a rare find that pairs well with various dishes, including blue cheese, lobster, pork, seared scallops, sushi, or Thai, especially with hard-to-pair bitter vegetables like asparagus or artichokes.
